The Long Red Neck

The Long Red Neck

It was the middle of the night and I was having a rough night. I was exhausted from a long day at school and decided to go to bed early, hoping to get some much needed rest. As I closed my eyes and prepared to dream, I suddenly felt my head spin and a flood of images flooded my mind.

I was having the most vivid and realistic dream that I ever experienced. It was like I was living my dream. The dream was beautiful and idyllic at first but things soon started to change. The colors became duller, the sounds became distorted and I felt a growing sense of fear and dread. I felt trapped in a nightmare, unable to wake up and escape the frightening images their mind had conjured up in my dream.

I found myself inside a creepy old house, starting to look through the window. I saw an empty field that stretches out into the horizon. The sun is hidden behind dark clouds and a chill breeze is blowing. There’s no sound except for the distant thunder of the approaching storm. The grass is withered and dry, and all the flowers have been trampled into mud. There’s a sense of isolation and loneliness in the air, like I was being watched.

I went outside and explored the field and saw 2 people arguing, more like siblings, a little boy and his sister. They were on a field and I don’t really hear anything from my dream but I could say that they were arguing about something. While they were arguing, the sister comes closer forward to the boy leading them to go inside the field. Until the boy tripped and a monster came out from the boy’s behind, facing directly to the girl.

Fear grips my soul as I see the situation. It feels like something is stopping me from speaking and moving, making me only watch in horror as the terrifying situation unfolds. Looking from afar, I could only describe what I saw. It was a bird-like monster that has a long, red neck topped with a sharp, hooked beak. Its body was covered in feathers and it had long, curved talons that could be used to hunt its prey. I could only think of one thing that will happen, I would witness the death of those 2 people and knowing that I would also be the next feast of the monster…
