A young lady’s back ached as the scorchy sun glared at her. Her perfect fair- dark complexion, smeared with Shea butter,a native pommade, commonly known as,”nkuto”,made her skin reflect the sun rays,as they shone brightly. Her long dark brown waist length hair,with two long cheek hairs, swayed as the ferocious wind of the Harmattan blew. The wind rudely jerked up her long skirts,as she bent over to finish her task of planting onions,”sabolai”.
A young man, dangerously handsome,a naughty and authoritative type, stood at a far distance,obviously admiring her as she worked. He had been secretly monitoring her for a month now. A complete foreigner,he was, traveling all the way from India in search of a vulnerable village to raid,but ever since he saw her at the beach,crying her heart out,he had always considered raiding the peaceful village. He didn’t care what his village head will say,he just to consider being wicked,surprisingly for the first time.
The lady picked up her empty bowl,and with dainty steps entered the kitchen which was next to the garden. The young man ran his long fingers through his dark hair watching her with his bewitching brown eyes as she disappeared into the kitchen. The next Dawn, she set out with a medium sized clay pot to draw water before the trouble of the day,her aunt could wake up. Little did she know that as soon as she would leave,an attack will be launched on the unexpected village which laid in the heart of Ga Mashie. She walked down the sandy path to a pond where the women fetched water,a little salty and safer for use than the sea water. As she balanced the pot on her heard, the piercing sound of a woman’s screams caused her to jump, therefore making the pot fall, breaking into a million pieces. She was angry and scared,”that woman should be very sorry for I am going to punish her if my aunt scolds me”. She was trying to dry her dress when she gazed upward and saw smoke emitting from the numerous houses. Quickly,she ran into the village to find destruction befall the peaceful village. Men were scattered almost everywhere lifeless. A sight of a mother cradling her baby in the security of her arms made her break down in tears. The young man, amidst all the chaos and confusion got hold of one of the men by the name,Bull. He had fire in his eyes as he asked,”what are you doing here?” Bull answered with a mixture of fear and confusion,”we thought you were dead by now,Tiger so we came…” Tiger asked hotly,”to do what, fools? What happened to the letter I sent to you about considering raiding the village, idiots?” Bull answered, this time,he almost whispered,”I apologise on the party’s behalf but the village head said that we should carry out the plan as soon as possible.” “Damn that village head”,Tiger almost screamed then he added,”once I get there, he’s going to feel the pain of my wrath. Now,you know what,do you see that young lady over there?”,he asked as he pointed to the girl’s direction,”now let me make this clear to you. Make sure that no one touches her. She’s my captive, which means I choose what to do with her, did you get me?”,Tiger said in a commanding voice. Obviously, Bull was disappointed but he had to agree. He gave a gave a quick bow and hurried away. The young lady ran home only to get the shock of her life. There, lying on the bare floor,was her best friend, Jessica,her cousin and her aunt with no life in the bodies. She fell on the floor and wept bitterly for over nearly an hour. She pulled herself together with the little hope left in her and slowly walked into her room. She came out dressed but when she attempted to run,she bumped into Tiger. She didn’t have time to even catch a glimpse of his manly physique. Tiger was so tall that she had to look up at him but surprisingly,they were of the same age. He made an attempt to hold her hand but she moved backwards. It wasn’t her fault that she was feeling scared and angry. She blurted out,”who are you,what did this village do to you people??” Tiger said in a call and patient voice,”Hi,my name is Julio,alias Tiger, the leader of the raiding party but to tell you the truth,I didn’t know that the village was going to be raided so soon. Care to join me,baby?” Her answer came as soon as he finished speaking,”N-E-V-E-R!!! I’m fine here just leave me alone and go your way while I go mine!” She didn’t know how to react to the moment that followed. He just held her hand firmly and forced her along with him. She did whatever she could to free herself until she brought his hand to her mouth and bit him hard with her white incisors. When he released her,she rushed past him and ran down the path neither looking ahead not looking behind her. He didn’t give up. He ran behind her and with the aid of his long legs,he was able to get to about five metres from her.”Hey, look out!!!,”he screamed when he realized that she was actually running into a wall. Before she could realize anything, she bumped into the wall. She fell right into his strong arms and the last words she could here was “Julia”,her name. She held on firmly to the neck of his shirt as she closed her brown eyes.
