Rascal Rodents- Story 5: Bicycle Race across England.

The three rats had played a smashing game of billiards at the Rats Club, and were now on their way to home. Soon, a group of rats, from the International Rat Community (I.R.C), walked o the streets and announced ” Come and participate in the best Rats bicycle race ever held! Hurry! Get your names listed in the competition here. Bicycle race across England on 17th August!”

” Let’s give it a try” Said Henry. Louis and Glide agreed and the three ran up to the members of I.R.C to get their name listed.

One month went by. Two months went by. At last the day came. Oh no! The rats had  forgotten everything. They suddenly remembered it and were in a worry. They should have practiced before. What will they do now? The three rats decided they would cheat to win. ” We have to win!” Cried Henry. Well, now I think they need a lesson…..

When all the participants had taken their positions, the whistle was blown and the race began.

The rats had fixed a motor in their bicycle, to increase speed. But they were shocked to find that it was not working. Malenda, the shopkeeper, had cheated them by selling them an old and defective motor in the price of a brand new one. What will they do now?

Others were going faster than them. An idea struck Louis’s mind. He took out an oil bottle out of his pocket and spit oil on the road. He had expected that another rat would slip and fall due to the oil,but was himself caught in the trap. He was so impressed at his own idea,  he did not notice that his bicycle was moving towards the oily path and then he stumbled upon the stones and fell.

Henry and Glide helped Louis get up. Then the three continued racing. Now Glide had an idea. The three decided to surround the participants coming in their way and make them fall off.

A rat was moving forward. The three decided follow Glide’s idea and then surrounded the rat. The rat understood their plan and moved faster than ever and soon left them behind. Meanwhile, the rats had lost their balance and were now lying on the road.

The three rats reached the finishing line last. They also learnt a lesson.

NO STRUGGLE, NO VICTORY.

Well, I hope they will not cheat again and will work hard to win.

Better luck next time.
