Rascal Rodents- Story 4: In the Darkest City

The rats have had their dinner, and were now taking a look in ”Chris Rat’s Horror Story Book”. Soon after that, they started yawning and then went to sleep. Louis was a little scared after reading the horror stories and took time to fall asleep.

At about midnight, Louis woke up. He was thirsty and went to the kitchen to have a glass of water. Suddenly, someone knocked at the door of the rat hole. Who could be it? He asked ” Who’s there?” No answer. A second knock on the door and the door broke and fell out. Louis stood there, unable to move. ” Who-o-o-‘s  t-t-h-e-r-e ?” He forced himself to speak. This time, the window was shattered. Then the water inside the glass, which he held in his hand, fell on the floor and suddenly water came showering on Loui’s head. Now Louis was too scared. He ran out of the rat hole and hid in Drake’s basket. The  basket was overturned. He managed to get out of the basket and ran towards the corridor. The windows were open,the curtains swished and the wind blew fast. Rain water had poured inside. Louis accidentally  stepped on it, and fell from the stairs. For a while, he sat there, in pain. Then stood up again and crawled towards the rat hole. But there was a surprising change. The door was fixed, the glass of water was on the table and the windows were perfectly fine. Louis was filled with fear and shock. Everything around him went

………and round. Then darkness swallowed Louis and then there was nothing in existence.

” Wake up Louis.” Henry shook Louis,”You must have night-walked again.”

Louis opened his eyes to find his friends sitting around him. ” Ya. He must have done so. That is why he is not in his bed and lying here, on the floor.” Replied Glide.

But Louis remained speechless.

Was the incident of the previous night really a nightmare?
