The bodies

The bodies

During my summer holiday, I visited my grandparents. They live in Kolkata, near the Salt Lake stadium.

As soon as I arrived, they greeted me with huge smiles on their faces. They narrated some nice stories to me.

All their rooms were well decorated and airy. Only one of their rooms were locked. When I asked them what was in that room, they hesitated and moved onto a different topic. “Are you hungry? Will you have some rasgullas and samosas?” Asked my grandmother. ” Yes” I replied. Still one question troubled me. So I asked my grandmother ” Can I go inside that locked room once?” Grandma, in a loud voice, replied ” No!” I was shocked at her unusual behaviour. She is a usually cool and calm. What had happened to her?

At night, after dinner, Grandma told us to sleep. As soon as Grandma and Grandpa fell asleep, I tiptoed out of the bedroom. I crossed the dining table and climbed the stairs. I reached upstairs and thought “Grandma has the keys. How can I get them?” Suddenly an idea came into my head. I took out a hairpin out of my hear and used it as a key to unlock the lock. As soon as I entered the room, the door closed on its own. The room was filled with a dirty smell-  smell which comes from a dead body. Yuck! It was so disgusting.

Suddenly, I heard someone growling. Yah growling was coming from just beside me. ” Why have you come here? This is the land of dead.” Someone cried out. I was very scared. Suddenly the floor began to fill with blood. “Get out! Get out!” It sounded as though a number of people were shouting together. Soon a monstrous form appeared before me- it had three skeleton heads, blood dripplling from its mouth and it had a huge size. Seeing it, I fainted.

Soon, daylight touched my eyes. It was morning and I was lying on the floor. As soon as I got up, I could see a number of dead bodies lying beside me. I quickly ran out of the room. Grandma understood what I had done. That day, I got a sound scolding from her.
