The Man With The Mask

The Man With The Mask

A letter was found on October 31, 2018 inside the house of the Mourne Family, written by the killer using his own blood.

“All of the people I met, I wonder what they think about me and what is going on with their life. That’s the only thought that would go over in my head everytime I go to sleep.”

“Ironically speaking that I am diagnosed with insomnia, unable to sleep well and find myself thinking about my life every night. It could be much more worse to think that I am currently living in my dead parents’ house.”

“I don’t really have to say what so interesting about me but all I know is that I’m not popular and well known in Willoughby but all I know is I’m the only guy named Eldrin in this town. The worst thing is that people don’t really know me well except my neighbor, the Elliott Family.”

“Depressing isn’t it?”

“Well, I want you to know that I didn’t regret what I did, ’cause it was the only thing to do to stop it…”

The letter was found incomplete since it was torn off.

A week before the death of Eldrin Mourne, people were preparing the annual Halloween festival in the Willoughby town, where locals gather to enjoy costume contests, pumpkin carving competitions, and haunted hayrides through the nearby woods.

Eldrin was one of the scarers in the haunted hayrides. It was the only job to help him earn money and escape boredom.

Night after night, he worn his creepy costume and perfected his spine-chilling growls to scare the passengers in hayrides.

One particularly cold night, as Eldrin walked home from the hayride, he noticed a figure in the distance. It was a tall, slender man, dressed in dark clothing with a white mask covering his face except for the eye sockets.

The man stood motionless, just outside the circle of the streetlight’s glow. Eldrin shook his head, blaming his lack of sleep and insomniac symptoms for the hallucination, and continued walking home.

The next night, Eldrin saw the masked man again. This time, the figure was closer, standing in the shadows near the entrance to the hayride trail. Eldrin’s heart pounded, but he forced himself to dismiss it as another figment of his overactive imagination.

By the third night, the masked man began to appear more frequently. Eldrin saw him in the reflection of shop windows, lurking in the corners of dark alleys, and even among the trees lining the hayride path. Eldrin’s exhaustion made it difficult to determine what was real and what was not. He confided in his coworker, Lisa, who brushed it off as the effects of too much caffeine and not enough sleep.

One night, as Eldrin prepared to jump out and scare the next group of riders, he felt a cold hand on his shoulder. He spun around, but there was no one there. His eyes darted around the trees, his breath coming in quick, shallow gasps. He could feel the presence of the masked man, closer than ever before.

Eldrin’s nights became a blur of terror and sleeplessness. The masked man was no longer a distant shadow but a constant, haunting presence. He become much more aware and more paranoid.

On the eve of Halloween, he did his work like the same and decided to be armed when the man will suddenly attacks him.

Standing and waiting in his corner where he was assigned. One of the truck in hayrides suddenly stop near him, the lights were also gone. Noticing that only one passenger in the ride, which is a young boy, scared and hiding in his chair.

Eldrin approached to comfort him instead scaring him.”Hey, little boy,” he said. “Why are you riding alone here?,”he asked camly. As he go near to the boy, he was terrified by the boy’s face, which was covered in numerous scars and his eyes appeared to be ripped out.

The boy suddenly jump and grabbed his neck to strangle him on the ground. He was starting to lose his breath, trying to grasp his breath. He grabbed the knife in his pocket and stabbed the boys head. He couldn’t help himself to stab the boy many times until he realized that…
