She was a woman of high importance in the history of the Yoruba of the South Western Nigeria. She had her root in Offa before she migrated to Ile-ife, a town that was involved in the communal war with the Igbos. They were enslaved by the Igbos because of this problem, she decided to help her people out of the people’s molestation by the Igbos.
Moremi was a brave and beautiful lady who decided to look for source of power of the Igbos so as to free up her people from their oppression. She promised to offer her only son in sacrifice to the goddess of their river if she was able to find the secret of the Igbos
During the raids on Ife people, Moremi was taking as a slave by the Igbos, because of her beauty, she was married by a ruler of the Igbos, so she became a queen of the land.
She cleverly found the secret of the Igbos and escaped to Ile-ife where she revealed these to Ile-ife people.
As usual, the Igbos came again to raid the people, but because of the secrets of the Igbos and have been reavealed by Moremi, Ile-ife people defeated.
