A boy named Jack was the only son of his parents. He loved hiking, playing football, marvel avengers, starwars, superhero movies and animation movies. One of his eccentric hobby was to collect white shiny feathers of pigeons. He often gave food to pigeons. He didn’t have many friends so he often used to play with pigeons merrily. Instead of playing with the pigeons everyday Jack decided to bring one of the pigeons to home and play with it everyday but he needs to take permission from his parents as they were very strict and warned not to bring any pet to home. But this time they nodded with ‘Yes’. Jack was overwhelmed with happiness bounced up and down. Soon he brought one of the pigeons to home and named it ‘Shine’ and the name justified Shine so aptly. Once he heard his father saying that pigeons were the real massege carriers at a time. They used to fly to far places carrying messeges and used to deliver the messege chits to the recipients. People were not used to smart phones during that time. Knowing everything about the pigeons really excited Jack to the core. He was already cooking up a plan inside his tiny brain. He thought of sending a message through Shine to his cousin brother who lived far away in Scotland. Without waiting for anything Jack prepared a chit asking about his cousin’s well being and attached it to Shine’s leg. He had no idea if it would really work. Still he was full of hopes and determination. Shine was continuously flying her feathers saying coo-roo-coo-roo as if she wanted to convey something to Jack. She seemed so innocent that for a moment Jack thought if he would send her over oceans or not. Since excitement grasped all over Jack’s brain so he didn’t want to give a damn about his emotions and feelings. Jack immediately released Shine into air and said, “Shine don’t come back until you deliver my messege to Paul“. Paul is Jack’s cousin brother. When Jack visited Scotland last year in summer vacation, he and Paul had good times together.
It’s already been 2 weeks Jack is now impatiently waiting for Shine to return back home. A series of eveil thoughts were popping up in his head. What if Shine meets vultures and eagles on her way or she might have fallen into water while flying over ocean due to exhaustion. What if she doesn’t remember the right address then how would she give his messege to Paul. Somehow Jack regretted for sending Shine to a long-distance place. He couldn’t stop getting worried about her. If anything happens to Shine then he is the one to be blamed as it was his idea to send Shine to Scotland to deliver his message to Paul. Now who is going to bring Shine back?
Jack stopped thinking about Shine for a while. Now he is having dinner. On dinner table dad asked Jack, “It’s been few days I can’t see Shine anywhere. Where is she? Jack is in awe and couldn’t dare to say a single word to his parents at home. He pretended to be sleepy and asked his dad if he can go to bed now because he has to go to school tomorrow morning. “Something is fishy!”, said Jack’s dad. Without talking much he let his son go to sleep. Jack felt relieved and took a deep sigh. Anyhow he has to bring Shine back. “If needed then I’ll go to Scotland”,said a determined Jack.
Jack could not slept whole night as evil thoughts were worrying him. He was just lying down on bed like that looking at the top ceiling. It’s morning 5 a.m. heard a strange sound near his room window. He turned the light on. To his surprise, it was Shine. She was severely injured and about to lose her senses. Jacked jumped out from bed and opened the window hastily. Taking shine to both his hands he said, ” O’ Shine where were you? I was so worried about you. Few drops of tears automatically fell down from his eyes. He felt sorry seeing all the wounds all over Shine’s body. Without any delay he immediately took out a fasted box from cupboard and put some ointment on the wounds. While crying he promised to himself that he will never send her to anywhere. Shine looked very tired and exhausted from such a long journey. She was not able to even walk properly. Jack understood that for sure Jack would have met an accident. As Shine can’t speak anything she just remained silent and innocently kept looking at Jack. While putting ointments, Jack could see another chit attached to Shine’s leg. He carefully unfolded the chit. The chit was sent by Paul.
‘Dear Jack hope you are doing well. I am fine too and evryone is fine at home. I really liked the idea of yours sending me a message through this brave pigeon. I am happy to hear that you have a beautiful pet named Shine. I can’t believe that She flied over oceans and crossed miles of distance and came here to give tme the message. Still I feel sorry for her. You should be careful before sending such an innocent bird to such a long distance. She must have gone through a lot of hardships to arrive here. Hope Shine has arrived there safely. I am worried. And this time please give me a call instead sending Shine over here. When she arrives there ring me up as she had to bear a lot of pain and sufferings to get to here. Any ways I hope we meet soon again and let’s play together – Yours’ Paul.
Jack couldn’t raise his head out of shame. How can he become senseless and didn’t even think for a while that Shine may encounter dangerous events on its way before sending such a tiny innocent bird. It was during ancient time when pigeons used to carry letters attached to their leg and used to drop at the recipient’s house but time has changed now so is the environment. It was so naive of him to do so. After few days Shine recovered and became healthy and started to play with Jack again. Now Jack also takes care of Shine very well as if she is his little sister.
