Chapter 1- Zulfah is Informed
The Ibrahim are back from their holiday spent at South Africa. They’re back in Texas. “Thanks for letting us to travel, dad. Jazakhumu llahu khayran” appreciated Zulfah, their eleven year old daughter and their oldest. “Zulfah is right. Thank you daddy. May Allah show you mercy!” said Yasmeen, their eight year old daughter and the youngest. Their mother gave her husband a peck on his forehead. Three days later and the family is settled. Zulfah will be in 8th grade when they resume but in a different School anyways, but Yasmeen is going to the next class but not a different School. Zulfah is going to be a boarder soon, INSHA ALLAH. Everyone in the family except Zulfah knows she will soon be a boarder. Today’s the day Zulfah will be told about it. Was Zulfah going to be upset ? Will she be happy with the sudden change of her school ?
Yes. Zulfah became upset when she was told. She told them she wanted to be alone in her bedroom for a while. Zulfah cried about all her friends, teachers and their method of teaching. Anyways, she couldn’t disobey her parents. She became less angry, came out and hugged her parents, apologizing for over-reacting. “It’s not over-reacting. We also didn’t expect you to be happy but please try to be happy and don’t forget, we part to meet and we meet to part” said her mum.
After few discussions, they went shopping at a mall to get school materials. Zulfah had used the bag for so long, the straps are cut, hence a new bag. They shop for bags, bottles, stationeries etc. They were very quick because Zulfah had to read for her admission exams if she wanted to be in that school. They got home by 4:00pm and ate chicken salad and ice cream sundae for dessert.
Soon after, she packed the dishes and washed them, then she went to solve questions that would help help her in her exam. She read very hard, during studying she slept off. She had a dream about her, passing her exams, but after being enrolled in the school, she was bullied from the very first minute till closing hours. She started screaming “Help, help me !” then, she woke up. Her parents came in rushing into her bedroom. Zulfah developed headache and body pain. Her parents calmed her down, then she narrated the dream. Her father told her that she was worrying too much and her studying was enough. She came downstairs and went to the compound to enjoy the breeze. She felt much better than before. Ten minutes later, it was time for Maghrib. Their father led the prayer. Soon after, they ate dinner, watched some TV, prayed Isha and went to have their sleep.
