Jounal Entry: Feb 7, 2021 – It has been just over a year since the earth and sky ripped open, flooding our world with such horrors that even your worst nightmare would seem like a gleeful daydream. The entire earth shuddered as ground cracked, and agonizingly peeled itself open, leaving behind a mile-wide scar. At the sametime, the sky screamed in agony, as it too, ripped open. Millions upon millions of black, smoky wisps that glowed the deepest crimson escaped the crack in the surface. As if mirroring its earthly twin the tear in the sky bled out black, smoky wisps, but these glowed a sickly green color; and as they fell it almost looked as if the sky was weeping with the foreknowledge of what was to come. For months these wisps floated through the air, gorging themselves on our fear. During this time widespread panic became the societal norm. The various religions were claiming that this was their judgment day. Exclaiming that all must repent in order to float to Heaven’s Tear, the Gates of Valhalla, the Doorway to Olympus, and so on; or you would sink into Hell’s Sinkhole. It’s funny, thinking back on it now, every religion was claiming the tear in the sky as their gate to their everlasting paradise, but when it came to the scar in the earth, everyone referred to it as the gateway to hell.
No one knows what the catalyst was, but finally, the wisps made their move. They streaked through the air enveloping people, sometimes it was just one, other times, it was a group of them. The wisps shrouded them within their darkness and wormed their way inside. The people that were attacked shrieked in agony as their bodies began to transform into grotesque monsters from the deepest, darkest parts of the sickest, and twisted mind. In just a few minutes the wisps disappeared into humanity, leaving behind what we now call Abominations. These monstrosities began feeding on the remainder of humanity. They’d viciously attack their prey, leaving behind a mutilated corpse; however, that corpse wouldn’t remain dead for long. Shortly after finishing their ‘meal’ the corpse would mutate into another Abomination, spreading their horrid plague. Not even animals were safe from this sickness.
It was utter chaos, and essentially, hell on earth for a while after the initial ‘attack’. The various armies of the world, to their credit, had prepped themselves when the sky and earth had originally ripped open. They did their best to defend the survivors, and to drive back this onslaught, but just to no avail. All these soldiers became food for these monster, and in turn, became them as well. It seemed as though this insidious attack would never end, but after some time everything seemed to calm. These Abominations still roam the earth, feeding upon any poor soul that they come upon; but now its just survival for those that remain.
I will note that, for some reason, I’ve had a few of these wisps circle around me and find their way inside. Oddly, and thankfully, nothing came of it. I never mutated, nor have I felt different in any way. The black wisps are still floating around, sometimes finding a creature to mutate, other times just fading away to nothingness. I thought that all of the remaining wisps would fade to nothing, but sadly I was wrong. I’m not sure, in regards to Hell’s Gateway because it resides in Russia, but the tear in the sky occasionally bleeds out a few dozen more of these things. Unlike their predecessors, so-to-speak, the Abominations and the Beastials (as I refer to the mutated animals) can be killed through force. Sometimes this method is easy, other times you’re signing away on your grizzly death.
I’ll have to end this entry here. While writing this sounds of movement have been growing nearer, and nearer. I have learned to not push my luck and only engage in combat if there is no other choice. I’ll pick this up when a moment of respite once again rises.
If this is found, please, continue your own entries. Even if this is humanity’s final days let us, at the very least, leave some form of record for whatever entities that inhabit the world after us. Whether it’s these creatures or some other race. Humanity will NOT be forgotten.
