I was wearing black and white pants with a maroon shirt that said The United, and was on my way to Chemistry class (with Jesse… He is my lab partner). I shut my locker and noticed he was right next to me. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow. “Time to make some chemistry if you know what I mean…” I wacked his arm and looked down laughing. “Your laugh is so beautiful Sophia.” He grabbed my hand then kissed my cheek. We made it to class, just when the bell rang. The nurse was there, staring at me with a guilty look on her face. I tried to ignore her hoping she left.
We sat at our desk and the nurse walked towards me. “Are you Sophia Hally?” A single tear fell down her cheek.
“Um ya, why?” I looked at Jesse, and he grabbed my hand under the table. My heart beat grew faster each second.
“I need to speak with you.” I followed her outside the classroom and shut the door behind me. “I hate to tell you this but your father… h-he committed suicide, and left this note for you at the scene.” She handed me a note, I unfolded it and began to read.
“Sophia,
Please forgive me, I only want to be with your mother once again. Jesse will help you get through this. You two may move into the house together.
Love,
Dad”
Tears began to stream down my face, and I fell to the ground crying. She pat my back and said, “You and Jesse can go home now and take a break for a bit until you feel better.” I just nodded and ran into the classroom then sit in Jesse’s lap, buried my face into his shoulder, and cried until I passed out.
I woke up in my room, and Jesse was asleep next to me with his arms wrapped around me.
I was ready.
