Hare and his friends sat near the river as usual each complaining of how there mothers over worked them.” We need to come up with a solution to this”said the elephant. The other animals agreed to elephant is decision but they had no ideas.
“I think l have a plan lets kill our mothers and live in peace”said hare. All the other animals looked at each other and thought of it being a good idea. “Lets place their bodies in baskets and throw them in the river” hare added. They all agreed and went home excited. The next day they all came back with baskets of their dead mothers and each of them threw the basket into the river. As the rest of the baskets were sinking hare is basket was floating.”why is your basket floating” the eager animals asked hare. “Oh you see my mother is so troublesome that she doesnot want to sink even after dying, let me throw a stone” replied hare. Hare throws a stone and the basket sinks. “We are free we are free—” the animals shouted as they went back home.
Months later the animals started regretting as to why they killed their mothers because no one had to cook for them and they starved .”Why are we becoming thin but hare is fattening”asked the lion .”uhmm l think hare hid his mother up a tree, one day l followed him without him noticing and he called out mother mother l need some food and food was thrown” said rabbit. “Oh thats why his basket didnot sink without the stone”said giraffe “We should get a way of getting rid of her “said the angry animals
The next day when hare was seen leaving the other animals, lion secretly follows him until the tree.” Mother mother l need some food “hare calls out. Lion waits until hare leaves and also calls out “mother mother l need more food” ” you are not my son get away”hare’s mother replies back. Angry lion climbs the tree saying your son made us kill our mothers and kept his alive today l won’t spare you. Angry lion tears hare is mother and eats her up .
When hare came back he found blood under the tree and knew his mother was gone. He then left to meet with his friends who were around a fire and sat down but then tears rolled down his eyes.”why are you crying hare”asked giraffe. “Oh the smoke is entering my eyes thats why am crying ” said hare.The other animals looked at each other and knew that he was crying not because of smoke but his mother.
